GPA Demand-Side Management Program
The Guam Power Authority launched its original Guam Energy Sense Rebate Program on August 1, 1994. However, under T. Ann Perez, the program was suspended in 2001. Sometime in FY 2009, the Guam Power Authority will revisit the implementation of this program. This restructured Demand-Side Management Program will provide rebates for energy efficient appliances
Demand-Side Management (DSM) is actually another form of generation. By modifying customer electric appliance purchasing behavior by offering rebates, GPA can reduce the increase of customer loads. Thus, DSM eliminates or defers the need to build new power plants or use more expensive diesel fuel.
Key Benefits:
- Defers or Eliminates the Need to Use More Expensive Diesel Fuel
- Defers or Eliminates the Need for Additional Power Plants
- Stretches GPA Ratepayer Energy Dollars
- Promotes Environmentally Responsible World Citizenship.
